Erosion

Erosion is a phenomenon in which a material is mechanically worn down due to repeated collisions (or impacts) with fluid, and a portion of it is detached. It is called erosion.

Countermeasures
After a certain period of use, it is necessary to perform the following inspections and evaluations to prevent fracture:

  • Subcategory: Erosion
  • Damage mode: Metal loss (Thinning)
  • Inspection: Visual inspection, measurement of metal thickness.
  • Evaluation: Prediction of metal thinning rate, assessment of remaining service life.
  • Actions: Establish criteria for metal buildup repair, component replacement, and material change based on the assessment.
